Your Opinion...

Postby LostInStereo on Thu Dec 04, 2008 4:12 pm

Hello all, we have been in sort of a quarrel over this song in the past few weeks. Here's the scoop: We recorded a version of 'One More Time' for the upcoming covers project and after the initial session went back in to re-record some vocals. The thing is we ended up with two similar mixes with different vocal takes. The first mix has our drummer singing back-up and the second has Ian singing harmonies over the main part. So here's where we need some help! We've got a few weeks before deadline and don't have a clue where to go from here. We're pretty much split between the two. I'm really gonna try not to sway anyone but I definitley have a favorite... would you mind giving us your opinion and/or choice for which one should be submitted???

We'll try to have both versions up at
http://www.myspace.com/lostinstereomusic
and
http://www.lostinstereo.com

Thanks so much,

~Lost In Stereo

Version 2 sounds best to my ears. Nice cover, by the way!

-Yeah it's funny you mentioned that. There were a couple of us who really wanted Mike to stay on the track somehow... the tough part about overlaying the two versions is that it's sung differently on the second one (much simpler and abbreviated.) It would've been the next best thing to try. Well we can always keep version one as an alternate take or something. I think I'm moving towards 2 aswell, more for the fact that it's not as out of tune... I don't know just sounds better to me, plus the harmony parts seem to be growing on me.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well, if you're doing it at home, you could play around with it, but if it means schlepping into a studio, I guess that's different. I'd try panning each vocal hard L&R, or centering them with 1 a bit lower, maybe adding a tough of reverb. I can see where most people would go for 2, but I thought the understated quality of 1 was good, too.

*cough, cough*

"V, V IMPORTANT:
By submitting a track to us, you agree it for it to be distributed via the site. If your track is chosen to be used (and we will let you know ASAP on receipt of tracks), you agree not to make the track available in full elsewhere. Snippets, of no longer than 45 secs (or a third of the song, whichever is the shorter), are fine however.
Please note that if your submissions are made available in full, this may harm your chances of having your tracks included."

While they're still up though, another vote from me for version 2.
