AA.VV.
SQUEALING FANS IN MY TUNE VOLUME 1
(WWW.EVANDANDO.CO.UK)

Fatevi spremere.

New to me, certainly.

We knew that they had run with a news piece on volume 1...

http://www.losingtoday.com/news.php?id=551&news_alpha=c

...but I'm actually a bit baffled by that review, particularly because it's in Italian. I'm fairly sure the magazine is produced in English, so quite why that one review isn't, I can't really work out. :D

My Italian is, at best, non-existant, but it certainly contains words which sound encouraging. If anyone fancies doing better than babelfish on a translation, that'd be cool.

Good spot, you provider of irresistable electro-clash-banjo things, you.

apart from the song titles, the artist names and the website address, I understand the word "LEGO"

not sure if this helps

"Fatevi spremere" means "fucking mint" as well

OK, I don't speak Italian, but speak a lot of Spanish, which is similar. Here's my effort, but it's quite patchy!

The sleeve of this CD has a white background, and in the centre a lego man with blonde hair and a guitar in his hand. It’s an ironic representation of Evan Dando, the signer from the Lemonheads, the subject of this tribute CD. You can buy this CD from www.evandando.co.uk, and 35% of the profit goes to ?

Not sure about the rest, but I think it’s something like:
The compilation ?????, but that’s not that important. What is important is the spirit of their initiative, and the absolute quality of ?????? Being Around, with the beautiful voice and guitar of Jason Appleby, Rancho Santa Fe’s remake in the dreamy key of Lizzie London, an irresistible electro banjo clash style of Max Vanremmerden, It’s about time ????? Julianna Hatfield, ????????????
Fucking Mint!

I know but put it in coz it sounded quite good anyway!

'Fatevi' means 'to do' I think, and according to an online dictionary, 'spremere' means 'to squeeze'. :???:

:D This is what I make of it :???:

The artwork of this disc is a white background with in the center a Lego figure with blond hair and a beautiful guitar in his hands.
It's a fun project; a tribute to Evan Dando, the blonde singer from the underrated Lemonheads.
This cd can be bought directly on the site www.evandando.co.uk and 35% of the profits will go to cancer research.
On the compilation are no familiar names, but this is not important at all.
What makes it important is the initiative and the absolute quality of some of the versions:
Being Around with (beautiful) the voice and guitar by Jason Appleby, Rancho Santo Fe's remake in a dreamy key from Lizzie London, an irresistible electro-banjo-clash Style by Max Vanremmerden, It' s About Time is too much similar to the original and without Juliana Hatfield singing it loses fascination too much, but Tenderfoot sounds like a remake done by Husker Du and Hospital sounds like it's done by Franz Ferdinand. _ Fatevi spremere.

Would it be the Italian equivalent of "grab it now" or something then?

Good work on these translations guys. Really funny that there was a review kicking around that none of us knew about.

I spoke to my italian friend, who said she hadn't really heard anyone use that as a phrase before, but thinks they mean 'Give it a squeeze' (as in squeezing a lemon!)

I'm fluent in the language of Italian & I believe the review goes something like this -

"This CD is great. Buy it or be forever condemned to eternal hell fire"

You'll have to forgive me, I'm a little rusty but it's along those lines!!
