Yeah, I was hoping to have my tracks sent in awhile ago but have had quite a lot going on recently.  I'll be sending them in soon though.  Most definitely prior to that January date.  And then maybe at that point I'll try and tackle a few other tunes....  :)

A track's just gone red. First in a while, and hopefully there are quite a few not too far behind it...

Yeah, I've got 2 tracks due, and I've been pretty slack with them. But I did some work on them today, so hopefully they should be done soon - may have one ready for next week, fingers crossed.

REMINDER!

On 1st January 2008, ALL orange tracks become fair game to everyone.
(except those that have already recorded their full quota of tracks as per the rules on page 1)

We'll still keep with the system of marking tracks as orange when a band or artist expresses an interest, but this is for reference only, and will no longer mean that we will wait on their version before making a decision on accepting someone else's.

Please do take your time with your versions, as we are still looking for great sound and performance quality, but at the same time please understand that we want to really make some serious headway in 2008 with this project.

If you really want to be a part of this project, and your favourite tracks aren't in red, now is the time to act. Don't be fooled by how quiet this part of the forum has been in recent months - there genuinely is a ton of interest in this project, and a lot of bands are champing at the bit to get hold of some of the more popular tracks which have been reserved since early on.

IMPORTANT POINTS!

If you are interested in a track, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know before going ahead with recording. If you already have tracks completed, get them to us ASAP.

If you have a track completed that you feel needs mastering, feel free to submit an unmastered version for consideration. In a few cases we've actually preferred the unmastered versions anyway, and if your version is accepted you can always send on a slightly rejigged version further down the road.

We need your finished version/s in high quality audio format. Wav is preferable, flac and shn are also fine.

Sub-320kbps mp3s converted to wav are NOT acceptable.

If you can't email your tracks to us using yousendit or equivalent, postal submissions on CD or DVD are fine - PM me for details. Please ensure your discs are finalized before sending, and note that the rules on quality stated above still apply.

Is a rearrangement OK, or do you want straight covers? Sorry if this has been answered before.

Rearrangement is fine, so long as the spirit of the song itself is intact somewhere in there.

Sorry to be a bit slow getting back to you - it's been a mad week, and I haven't yet had chance to sit down with Mallocup and give it a proper listen. I'll be in touch in the next day or so.  :D

I am unable to record due to technical problems that I don't know how to fix. So I guess I'm out for the near future, anyway.

Just updated the list with three new red tracks.

Even better, it was two from Creator and one from Lick. Always good to get Taang-era submissions.

Who do I get in touch with if we want to send the tracks via mail? I sent one a while back through the send it but I remixed the version completely and cleaned it up since 2006. Also to avoid the problem of contacting you guys (unreliable myspace and e-mail) its easier to send it through mail, then its done and we don't play E-Tag). E-Tag.... is that a term...oh well. Please send the message on this account, not the myspace one, have had problems with it lately.
Thanks

Just mailed you. :D

Quick reminder to everyone - please do not mail your tracks as direct attachments to us by email. Our email accounts will not accept anything even close to the size of a high-bitrate .wav file, and we've found in the past that you won't necessarily get a bounce-back mail if this happens.

Please, please, please use yousendit.com or sendspace.com to send your files, and make sure you use sfcp@evandando.co.uk as the recipient email address. If you don't hear from us within a couple of days to confirm your tracks arrival, it may well be the case that it hasn't arrived!

Rick James Style

Postby littlesteve on Fri Feb 01, 2008 7:24 pm

Hi there. Nearly 18 months since we first posted and expressed an interest, my band Moccasin Bedlam has finished recording our cover of Rick James Style. I know we didn't re-register our interest in January 2008 but we've decided to finish recording it anyway. I'm uploading a mixed and mastered version it now via Sendspace. Please do let me know if you decide to use it. Thanks!

Coincidentally ( ), another track has just gone red on the list.

Quick update of where we are here:

From Ray onwards 22 of the 52 available tracks, or 42.3%, have been recorded, submitted and accepted.

From Hate Your Friends to Lovey, 13 of the 48 available tracks, or 27.1%, have been recorded, submitted and accepted.

Overall, we are 35% of the way to the finish line.

Some good progress in the last month then, but a long, long way to go. Keep the tracks coming, guys.  :D

Hey guys, sent in 2 tracks the other day, look for it, its on one of those limited time download only to those who recieve the link (AKA sendspace). Let me know if yout got them or not, thanks. Man, If I had more time I would really enjoy doing a Lovey track this time with a vocalist. Well see, down the line, also any word on the opening of the latest album to cover? Would love to do one of those when free time opens up. You should really just post a few tracks at a time as well, it might be a long haul to get all the covers, slightly drastic for everyone to be interested in covering every song, let alone getting them to record it. Imagine covering the whole entire Beatles catalog?

More Bedlam?

Postby littlesteve on Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:11 pm

Hi there. After our submission of Rick James Style, we in Moccasin Bedlam would quite like a go at Stove off of Lovey. Can you please let me know if there's been much interest in that one? Thanks.

320kbps for mp3s? Have you guys put in a CD into your computer lately? Their all mostly 160 kbps, and these are mastered major label records. Really anything below 160 is not CD  quality.  320 kbps is not above CD quality, their is  barely any difference between the 2. Really 320kbps bit rate takes up more space on your computer than anything. Since most people are recording probably on home gear and computer software programs 320 is not ideal or even a smooth transfer if its demo/4-track/ or semi descent digital recordings.
Well just my 2 cents I've worked for an engineer/producer before.

Just to clarify - ideally we don't want anything in mp3 format (indeed our original blurb said that we wanted nothing in mp3 at all), but from the sound of it some people have been working with equipment or software that gives them no choice.

If this is the case, I want to avoid people submitting tracks that have been recorded in low-bitrate mp3 and then converted to wav, as there's no benefit to that whatsoever.  If people are recording straight to mp3, then we want them to record as high bitrate as possible. I've heard no word on this causing problems for anyone so far - all software I've seen that can output to mp3 gives you the option to choose the bitrate of the outputted file.

Do please note though - If you can record and transfer straight to wav, that's our preference. Absolutely do not convert your track to mp3 if you have the option of avoiding it.
